Fulham has two top premier league football clubs in Chelsea FC and Fulham FC as well as other sports institutes such as the famous Hurlingham Club with its 15 year membership waiting list its former exclusive members including many monarchs.
Fulham Palace at one time the Bishop of London’s main residence from the eleventh century right up until as recently as 1975. The building now houses a museum of the extensive history of the palace as the home of the Bishop of London, and the palace also has a large and extensive botanical garden. In 1855 the lost manuscript “Of Plymouth Plantation” by William Bradford was found in the library and repatriated to New England in 1897 after a campaign by the U.S. Senator George Frisbie Hoar.
Fulham has a number of public houses and restaurants including Marco’s restaurant owned and operated by the world renowned chef Marco Pierre White.
Earls Court exhibition centre the world famous conference and event venue is situated on Fulham’s boundary with Kensington and is the 2nd largest exhibition centre in London, Earls court has now two exhibition halls earls court one and earls court two, earls court is host to many famous annual exhibitions such as the ideal home show and the Brit awards as well as hosting concerts by acts including Pink Floyd, Slade, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones and Queen. Earls court is also scheduled to be the host for the volleyball competitions in the 2012 Olympics.
