The Rich Life Style of Fulham Residents

The Fulham area is right next to the rich areas of Chelsea and Kensington in South West London where the price of living is one of the highest in the world. Just to illustrate this, you’d struggle to find a decent house in Fulham for much less than half a million pounds. Most houses for sale in this region are well above the one-million-pound mark. Most of the restaurants and cafes in the area take advantage of their highly-paid clientele and offer gorgeous gourmet food at very high prices.

Jump in your rented car, and take a drive around Fulham and the surrounding boroughs. You simply can’t drive down a street without seeing the odd Ferrari or Lamborghini blasting past (with the driver undoubtedly looking smug as you stare at him wishing you had that sort of money!).

Houses you drive past can be the most intimidating of mansions, which look so out of place compared to the rest of London. Poorer districts of London sport high-rise flats and cramped terrace houses, yet in Fulham you can see detached houses with over 10 bedrooms, if you’re willing to pay the £20 million premium for ownership, of course.

If all this driving around has made you hungry for the rich life, you can stop off at one of Fulham’s luxury restaurants such as the Blue elephant Thai which features an indoor tropical garden, or, if you fancy something a little less fancy, you might want to try the Salisbury which serves good old fashioned, British Pub food at reasonable prices.

The White Horse

If you are visiting Fulham and want to go to a traditional pub then why not try The White Horse. You will need a good hire car to get there but remember not to drink and drive. With the massive selection of drinks available it might be sensible to leave the car at home, just this once. The pub serves many different cask ales and so if this is what you are in to then you will be happy. They also have a selection of bottled beers and lots of wine. It serves pub food too so you can go along for a long lunch or grab some snacks to accompany your beer.

It has a nice family atmosphere but is also popular with professionals and the young as well as the very well off middle class. There is an open fire which is great for sitting in front of on chilly evenings and in the summer they often have a barbecue. It may be more pricey than some other pubs in the area but if you want a great choice of drinks, quality food and a fantastic atmosphere then it is well worth a visit. They do not have regular music or bands so if this is something you like then you may want to look elsewhere but it is worth checking before you go as they do have occasional jazz festivals which could be well worth a visit. Check out their website and see whether it looks like your type of venue.

First Trip Out of Country

I have been travelling the United States since I was a child, and while I haven’t yet seen everything I want to, I am ready to change the pace a little bit and I thought that going to England would be a great way to do so. I know very little about England in general and have wanted to go for the sights as well as the opportunity to talk with some locals about customs, beliefs and opinions. Unfortunately, the only way I will be able to accomplish everything I have planned is to rent a car.

Driving in America is daunting enough. There are thousands of police officers to patrol billions of miles of roadways, and people know the odds are in their favor. Speeding, swerving in and out of traffic, and even pranks on other drivers all lead to serious accidents. Roadways are dangerous and scary places, and that’s when you know what to expect. When I arrive in London I will be staying in the Novotel so, for all of the places I want to go (Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, etc.). The reason for this is that I plan on doing a lot and spending all of my time on public transportation isn’t feasible.

Thankfully, my fiancée has been to England and her parents were raised there. Having someone else in the car will make the driving less scary and a bit easier, because the more you can talk the more you relax, even if they are only along for the ride.
